Welcome to my blog!

March 18, 2019

March is here. Well, close enough!

Send me an e-mail between now and April 5, 2019, at lizsanders50@gmail.com and mention the NETWO conference. You’ll be eligible to receive a $20 AMAZON gift card!

Our annual NETWO conference has a super line up of speakers, and I’m not just saying that! Check out our Website at netwo.org and see for yourself. Then register to attend!
I hope all your God-given dreams are coming true today! When was younger, I watched an episode of Gilligan’s Island. Gilligan was hypnotized or under some kind of trance whereby he would “hear and obey” his commander. I realize this might not be the best example of obedience to God, and thank goodness we don’t have to “hear and obey” under a trance.
We choose to hear and obey. Let’s do that today. God may be telling you to allow Him to love you or to spend time with Him, or He might be calling you to something else. Whatever it is, we know we can do it because He promises that He gives us the ability.

Well, look at this. I felt compelled to show them off. So proud and pray they are used of God.

October 14, 2018 – I had a discussion with some coworkers the other day. We discussed how we combat constant negativity floating around–at the grocery store, the workplace, the home, etc. One person suggested writing down positive thoughts. Another said she listened to motivational videos on YouTube. Another colleague was reading a book Learned Optimism to learn the temporary, rather than permanent, explanatory style. Of course, the best solution to any problem is God’s word.  If you have any great ideas for fighting the forces of negativity, let me know. Have a blessed day!

September 29, 2018 – Wow! I didn’t realize how long it has been since my last blog post. I read a quotation by Wayne Dyer online: “Abundance isn’t something we acquire. It’s something we tune into.”  Tune in to God’s creation today!

July 5, 2018 – Do we believe what we think we believe?

June 17, 2018 – One of my former students shared an allegory on Facebook about a child who was screaming after his brother took away his glow sticks. The brother handed them back and explained that he took them so he could bend them to activate the “glow.”

God sometimes does things that we don’t understand, doesn’t He? We might “scream” about occurrences, but He knows what He is doing. We might have to wait for the explanation, and there might not be one, but Christians know that ultimately all will be “glowing.”

May 29, 2018 – Wow! Our annual NETWO Conference this year was amazing! I am energized and motivated to write, write, write, and read, read, read (more than usual, that is). Check out my new page “My Friends’ Books.” I have added two great book titles. I am working on Book 2 of the Diamond River Series:  Slippery Slope, which introduces Levi, a new Cane Brother.

I hope you all are reading this summer and are inspired to live your life to the fullest. Finally, guess what…I started reading War and Peace the other night, and I LOVE IT!

February 3 – I am so excited this month to be a part of Northeast Texas Writers Organization. Delia Latham will present “Let’s Get Romantic.” Join us on February 8, at 4 pm for critique session and 6 pm for “Let’s Get Romantic.”

In March we have Colleen Hoover in a Q&A session, and in April we have Penny Richards, as well as our annual conference on April 28th with Arianne “Tex” Thompson!

December 22 – I enjoy watching movies based on books. Last night I watched Far from the Madding Crowd based on the novel by Thomas Hardy.  I loved it! I don’t know when it was produced, and I have not read the book, but that is what I intend to do during the holidays!

November 25 – Are you depressed?  Years ago I taught at a child development center, and one of the perks of the job was attending educational workshops. At one of the workshops, the speaker–I am sorry, I don’t remember his name–said that depressed people at a certain facility were instructed to smile and laugh for a number of minutes each day (I am cloudy about specific details, but hey, it’s been a while). Anyway, many of those depressed patients were “cured” without medication.  Isn’t that fascinating? I have also heard that people who are depressed or worried can look far out into the distance to get their minds off problems. Interesting and worth trying!

November 21 – Happy Thanksgiving. Make a list of ten “things” you are most thankful for.

  1. God, of course
  2. Salvation, of course
  3. Family, of course
  4. Happy Home
  5. Transportation
  6. Good Job
  7. Creativity
  8. Nature
  9. Texas
  10. Health

August 12 – I began a notebook in which I write new, interesting and unusual things “Things I Learned.” Sometimes I write things already learned but in a different mode. For example, did you know that Vitamin D is a hormone?

August 11, 2017 – I recently read that Vitamin D deficiency can increase the risk of Alzheimer’s by 122%.  I bought Vitamin D3.

Have you learned anything interesting lately? Please share it.
